one-aftr was formed with the mission to create a 'collective good experience' in space. We use the vagueness of 'good' as a driving force of our inquiries.  We make sense of our surroundings through measured observation of everyday life and by considering viewpoints from other fields. We experiment with ways of working in  defining the 'good' through writing, making, curating, and building.

Our design expertise spans projects of various scales, including small objects, pavilions, buildings, and master plans. We approach each project uniquely, considering its economic, historical, and cultural context.

Joon Ma
is a designer, educator, and co-founder of one-aftr. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Davidson College and a Master of Architecture from Princeton University, where he received the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize for his thesis. His work has been recognized internationally, including a finalist for Dubai Expo Korea Pavilion and 2nd place on Europan 15 Vienna. His writings have been published in Rumor(Princeton), Paprika!(Yale), and Pool(UCLA). before founding one-aftr, he worked at OMA/AMO Rotterdam. He previously taught at Syracuse and Yonsei University and is currently a TSK Visiting Critic at Seoul National University.

Ryu Ahn
is a designer, educator, and co-founder of one-aftr. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. He has been selected as a finalist in several international architectural competitions and has been awarded by the Korean Institute of Architects (KIA), exhibiting his work at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism. Before founding one-aftr, he worked at Suh Architects, The_System Lab and stpmj in Seoul and Studio Daniel Libeskind in New York. He previously taught at Hongik University and is currently an adjunct professor at Kookmin University.
